blog 1 why I choose cultural studies

My name is Megan Diaz and the main reason why I choose to take this class is becasue i feel that I am not as cultured as I could or should be. I feel that the school district I went to threw out my childhood and teenage years taught the basics and did not have much variety in classes to choose from. I grew up in a small town where i was one of the two hispanics in my grade and the other being my cousin. My friends growing up were in aw at some of my family traditons and our values. Not until I moved away from home did I get to meet some of the most amazing people from a variety of different cultures. I am open to learning and very interested in new cultures. Culture interest me in may different ways whether or not is in our country or others. I and interested in others traditions, religions, style, and just the way of life in general. I feel that culture is a persons view of there values, from how a person is raised, how they choose to live out their life, and the traditons they'll hang on to forever and pass on to others.
